Macadamia oil is replenishing, easily absorbed and nourishing for dry and mature skin.
Latin Name: Macadamia ternifolia
This is the oil from the macadamia nut which is high in palmitoleic acid (18-25%), a monounsaturated fatty acid that does not occur in any other plant oil but is found in sebum. Palmitoleic acid in sebum diminishes progressively as we get older and macadamia oil may help replenish this in older skin. It is highly emollient, has anti-ageing properties and easily absorbed by the skin. It has been found useful in sun preparations – it is used in France as an aid against sunburn.
It is usually blended with sunflower in a 5 – 15% blend, and will keep for up to two years in a cool, dark place.
How to use?
Apply directly to affected areas of the skin or use 15 drops of essential oil in 50ml for massage.
Store in a cool, dark place
